Chelsea thrash Wigan 8-0, win Premier League title

Chelsea's Ivorian striker Didier Drogba (C) vies with Wigan's Ivorian defender Steve Gohouri (L) during the English Premier League football match between Chelsea and Wigan Athletic at Stamford Bridge in London. Chelsea thrashed Wigan 8-0 to claim the English Premier League title on Sunday.

A Didier Drogba hat-trick helped the west London club to a victory that ensured they pipped defending champions Manchester United to the trophy by a point with a record haul of 103 goals.

United beat Stoke 4-0 in their final match but were forced to settle for second place.

Arsenal secured third place -- and direct entry to the group stages of next season's Champions League -- by beating Fulham 4-0 at the Emirates.
