Hull midfielder George Boateng had his three-match suspension lifted on Friday after winning an appeal against his dismissal against Blackburn.

Boateng, 34, was dismissed in Wednesday's 1-0 defeat at Ewood Park after referee Lee Probert ruled his aerial challenge on Rovers midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen was worthy of a red card.

But the English Football Association's independent regulatory commission overturned Probert's decision, clearing Boateng to play in his side's next three matches.

Hull manager Phil Brown criticised Probert after the match and said: "To say it is a nonsense is an understatement. It is clearly a clash of heads and a brave challenge by both players."
