Lennon in the dark over Celtic job

Neil Lennon revealed Wednesday he has no idea when he will find out if he has landed the Celtic manager's job on a permanent basis.

Lennon has been the Glasgow club's caretaker boss since Tony Mowbray's sacking in March and earned plaudits for Celtic's winning run under his passionate leadership.

The former Celtic captain recorded eight wins from his eight league matches, although he was also in charge for the team's shock Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Ross County.

Celtic, who finished second in the Scottish Premier League behind champions Rangers, have now launched their search for a new boss and Lennon has been given no indication if he will return from his holiday as Celtic manager.

"In terms of the job, it is still an ongoing process. It's just as we were after the Hearts game," Lennon said.

"The club is going through the technicalities and there are applicants for it.

"I will be around for the next couple of weeks. In early June, I'll go for the residential part of the ProLicense. Then I'm going for three weeks' holiday. There is no guarantee I will have an answer by then."

Lennon also insisted he doesn't know anything about a Celtic bid to secure Hull midfielder Jimmy Bullard on a season-long loan, while reports in Scotland also suggest Celtic are set to make a swoop for veteran Arsenal defender Sol Campbell.

Lennon added: "I've been looking for players but whether the club take any notice of that is another thing."
