Liverpool eye Rangers teenager Wilson

Liverpool are one of two Premier League clubs interested in Rangers' teenage defender Danny Wilson, the Scottish champions confirmed on Friday.

The 18-year-old was expected to sign a new contract at Ibrox this week, but manager Walter Smith said that discussions remain ongoing between his representatives and chief executive Martin Bain.

"Danny has been exceptional for us and where I'm at with those negotiations is that we have made him an offer and there is a schedule that sits with his agent at the moment," Bain told www.rangers.co.uk.

"Two English Premiership clubs approached us in January and since then I have had the odd discussion. I can confirm that Liverpool have expressed an interest but a lot of clubs are keeping abreast of Danny's situation."
