Velud quits Togo post for Creteil

Hubert Velud resigned as Togo national coach on Tuesday to take over at French Third Division side Creteil, the club announced.

The 50-year-old, who was wounded in the rebel attack on the Togolese Africa Cup of Nations squad in the Angolan enclave of Cabinda in January which left two of its members dead, will be having his second spell in charge of the club.

"Hubert Velud in his first term in charge of Creteil guided us to our best ever season in 2005/2006 when we finished eighth in the Second Division with 54 points," read a statement from the club.

Velud replaces Laurent Fournier, who had been in the post since June 2009 and who guided them to fourth place in the Third Division last term, six points short of promotion.
